Cheval Place

The brief was to create a secluded garden in a luxuriant exotic style on a tiny rooftop in Knightsbridge. Mark Lutyens designed bespoke trellis and seating as well as corten steel planters to fit the restricted space. Catherine used plants such as bananas, the unusual tree fern Cyathea medullaris, camellias and yellow -stemmed bamboo to create the lush jungley atmosphere, and sourced mirrors from Lillie Road antique shops to make the space seem bigger.

Climbers such as the scented Trachelospermum jasminoides and Clematis armandii provided white flowers over a long season and the big leaved vine, Vitis coignetiae added architectural leaves and firey autumn colour to the scheme.
